It’s the season for giving, and our founder, Maryl Georgi, has been actively supporting various local non profits. She’s served on the board for PS Arts fundraisers, and we shared her behind the scenes look at their recent Express Yourself event in this post. Always eager to do more to help deserving kids, Maryl also recently attended the 3rd Annual Rock4EB! Thanks to supporters, the evening with Ed Sheeran and David Spade raised nearly $600,000 for EB research.
The Rock4EB show, which benefitted the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, in Malibu, CA, was held on Sunday, November 15. Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco is deeply involved with the Rock for EB event committee. In partnership with Crowd Rise, the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation booked special guest Ed Sheeran to headline the exclusive fundraising event.
“It’s a private evening with Ed Sheeran to benefit EB medical research,” Kaley, who is good friends with someone who has EB, told On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday morning. “It’s a terrible disorder. I don’t think a lot of people know about it and I’m trying to get the word out, especially for my manager who I’ve been with for years and years.”
Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation is leading the way to fund research into successful treatments and, ultimately, a cure for EB. EB is a life threatening and debilitating genetic disorder which causes the skin to tear and blister at a slight touch, leaving wounds and scars on the body. There is currently no cure for EB. The EB Research Foundation issued this statement after the successful event:
“We can’t thank everyone enough for attending or making a donation on behalf of Rock4EB! Its through your generosity and continued support that we know a cure is within reach. Hope to see you next year!’
Among the many celebrities who came out to support this worth cause were:
Headliner Ed Sheeran, who gave a special 90 minute concert for attendees.
Host David Spade
