Yoga can influence your attitude and your mood with both the intensity of your workout and the poses you choose. Since stress, unfortunately, plays such a large role in our daily lives, we made a list of 5 posts that can help you master the best yoga poses for stress relief.
Huffington Post has an excellent article with photos that shows and explains “The 10 Best Poses for Stress Relief” Number one on their list is Child’s Pose (Balasana):
The calming child’s pose is a resting posture that can help quiet the mind, easing stress and anxiety while gently stretching the back. It’s also good for the nervous system and lymphatic system…It’s very restorative … it’s child-like and allows us to come inward to ourselves.”
Yoga Journal has an online series detailing how yoga can relieve stress and anxiety. They recommend the Boat Pose as one yoga exercise to try, describing it as “an ab and deep hip flexor strengthener, Paripurna Navasana requires you to balance on the tripod of your sitting bones and tailbone.” You can learn how to do the move HERE.
Even news leader CNN recognizes the calming properties of yoga with their article on “10 Yoga Poses to Beat Stress“. Their workout starts with a toe squat, then moves to 9 other poses. Their tutorial comes complete with lots of pictures to explain each pose if you’re a yoga beginner.
The Fit Indian shares several stress busting yoga poses. A move that many of you probably already know, Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Savasana), is explained this way: “The down dog or the downward facing dog pose is an amazing stress-relieving yoga pose that helps in waking up the senses and reduces fatigue and tiredness.”
POPSUGAR. shares 5 stress busting yoga moves complete with photos. The author reveals that “I hold all of my emotions in my hips, and Head-to-Knee Pose gives my hips and hamstrings what feels like a minimassage.
